Campaigns and Projects
There's lots of things we're doing for the market.
Since late 2008, FBM has:
- Campaigned to save Granville Arcade from being knocked down
- Supported the application to have Granville Arcade listed
- Set up a cross-party meeting for members of all the main political parties to ensure they support the market
- Commented on the Conservation Plan for Brixton
- Helped shopkeepers set up their own trader federation
- Developed ideas for the Council’s public art project
- Helped BMTF (the street trader federation) develop a promotional website: brixtonmarket.net
- Produced ‘I love Brixton Market’ canvas bags to promote the market
- Worked with the council on their new promotional strategy
- Complained to the council about the situation with food traders in Brixton Station Road
- Supported the Townscape Heritage Initiative bid developed by Brixton Community Trust to bring money to the town centre
- Attended the Market Steering Committee and the Stakeholder Group
- Run a website, a facebook site and sent out newsletters
- Held public meetings and a party
When we've got more time, we'll update more fully. If you'd like to know more, join and come to a meeting!
