FBM's party was a great success on Wednesday night. Over 100 people fought their way through the cold and rain to celebrate Friends of Brixton Market's registration as a not-for-profit group. We had many drinks, lots of good talk and got a bunch of new volunteers interested in helping FBM.

Everyone there was committed to saving Granville Arcade from demolition by LAP and finding better futures for the market.

Thanks to everyone for coming and to Uta, No Frills and the Urban 75 DJs Mike and Nicola for providing great music on the night.

Our next steps are to keep up the pressure!

At the same time we are working on a business plan to bring new investment, business and success to Granville Arcade in particular, and the rest of the market more broadly.

We are going to be holding events to bring in ideas from the community to develop new futures for the market, that respect Brixton's diversity and heritage and works for the people of Brixton now and into the future. This will be a lot of work and we'll need more more people to help to make it a reality.

In the mean time we need to let Granville's traders know we won't let LAP destroy their livelihoods. Everyone who cares should go down to Granville and buy some of the great value quality food available there.

As we said on the night if you can spare 30 minutes, an hour or an evening or any amount of money get in touch.

Thanks again,

FBM

(PS We'll be posting all the comments people left about why they love Brixton market once we've typed them up)
